The Power of Ganesh Worship: A Path to Success and Spiritual Liberation

From a satsang with Pt. Maniedeo Persad, Spiritual Leader, SWAHA Sri Raam Dhaam

“Sumukh, Ekadanta, Kapil, Gajakarna, Lambodara, Vikat, Vighnanaashak, Vinaayak, Dhumraketu, Ganaadhyaksha, Baalachandra and Gajaanan: one who hears or recites these 12 names of Ganesh never faces obstacles at the time of studies, marriage, a journey or in any challenge.”

There are many reasons why we worship Bhagavan Ganesh, the essential reason being in order to remove obstacles. Lord Ganesh is the sum total of existence and He can bestow all siddhis; He has all power. Each of us today has some concern or challenge, whether it be health, financial, relationship or job-related. Any person on this earth who is completely happy is a jivan mukti, one who is liberated. For all others, worshipping Lord Ganesh grants us success in various areas of life. So, even when we are happy and feel self-actualised, we may still want success for our children or in some other aspect of life.

If we cannot go to a place of community worship for the duration of this period of worship to Ganeshji, there are small biodegradable murtis available for worship at home. It is said, Ganeshji comes during this time of worship and he leaves with our troubles. Let us make an oath to ourselves that during this period we will devote ourselves to Ganeshji, whether it be for one night, three nights, five nights, or the entire period. Whatever is in the heart, we must express that in prayer to the Lord, and happiness and solutions will arrive.

In our devotions to Lord Ganesh, his glorious nature is described as follows: You are unborn, absolute and formless. You are beyond bliss, and again, bliss itself; the One and the Infinite. You are the Supreme without attributes, differentiation and desire. You are verily, the Supreme Brahm.

Your nature is beyond attributes. You are the embodiment of intelligence and bliss, the effulgent Spirit, the all-pervading, the goal of knowledge. You are the object of meditation to the sages. Formless and omnipresent, you are the Supreme Lord, the Supreme Brahm.

Ganeshji, You are the cause of the entire universe. You possess primal knowledge. You are the origin of everything. You pervade the universe and are worshipped by all. You are the Supreme Divinity.

We worship Ganeshji, because He is the repository of knowledge. Whatever we want, we get from Lord Ganesh: knowledge, material possessions, children, good family relations and, of course, spiritual liberation.

As the infinite Lord, Ganeshji is both with and without form. Among his names, He is called Ekadanta, capable of destroying all obstacles. He holds an axe in one hand while a lotus adorns the other. He holds a rope with the third and he offers protection with the fourth. That Ganapathi is the very quintessence of yoga. He teaches yoga to the yogis. By listening to the kathas of Lord Ganesh with prayer and devotion, we ask that he bestow upon us the knowledge of peace.

That Lord who is eternal, changeless, yet causes change around him, who is worshipped throughout the cosmos, that unique, beneficent and omnipresent Lord we offer our worship now and always.

In our daily lives, the worship of Shree Ganesh is not merely a ritual but a profound expression of faith and surrender to the divine will. By invoking His name and embodying His principles, we align ourselves with the cosmic order, paving the way for success, peace and spiritual growth.

As we offer our devotion to Ganeshji, let us remember that He is not only the remover of obstacles but also the bestower of wisdom and the guide to eternal bliss. Through sincere worship, whether at home or in the mandir, we invite His divine presence into our hearts, trusting that He will lead us through life’s challenges with grace and assurance. May Ganeshji bless us all with the strength to overcome, the wisdom to understand, and the peace that comes from living in harmony with His teachings.
