He was the first President of the organization, and led the growth and development under the charge of his father, the late Shankarcharya Pundit Hari Persad. He later served in many other leadership positions during the twenty-eight (28) years of existence of this esteemed Hindu organization, including Director of Board of Education. During this time, he was the project lead for the establishment and construction of the SWAHA Hindu College.
His most recent appointment is as Chairman of the Board of Directors of SWAHA since 2019 and has been leading the organization through its transformation stages. He has represented the organization on several international fora, speaking on matters of religious significance, bringing contemporary views to the interpretation of our scriptures. These accomplishments are in addition to his full-time commitments to SWAHA Divya Ashram, located in Preysal, where he has served as Spiritual Leader for the past twenty-five (25) years. Pundit Persad, continues to mentor many young professionals in society and is an exemplar of living through the philosophies of Hinduism. He practices his religion is every aspect of his professional and personal life, which is why he is well respected within the organization and admired by many.
Today, SWAHA is extremely proud of yet another of his many achievements, as he is the first Pundit in the western hemisphere to have ever been chosen to lead a tertiary institution. We wish him continued success and congratulate the UTT for having chosen a leader that will demonstrate fairness, transparency and compassion in his leadership.
