May the Goddess Saraswati protect me. She appears like the jasmine-coloured moon. Her pure white garland is like frosty dewdrops. She is adorned in radiant white attire, on whose beautiful arm rests the veena, and whose throne is a white lotus. She is surrounded and respected by the Gods. Please remove my weariness, sluggishness and ignorance.

Haste Sphatika-maalikaam Vidadhateem,
Padmaasane Sansthitaam.
Vande Taam Parameshwareem Bhagavateem,
Budhee Pradaam Sharadaa.
We worship that Divine Mother who is all pure, the essence of the teaching of the Vedas and who is present in all knowledge.
We worship Saraswati Maa, whose arms bear the veena, the book of knowledge and who is the bestower of fearlessness and the remover of the darkness of ignorance.
Praise to that most brilliant form of Saraswati Maa who bears a crystal maalaa, and whose exulted position is firmly established.
May we be blessed by Saraswati Maa who is the graceful bestower of an inspired intellect. To that Goddess, also known as Sharadaa, we offer our humble prostrations.
