Shri Ram teaches us that the human form is the highest. It is said that there are eight million, four hundred thousand species of life and the human is the highest. To begin, we follow the concept of ‘karma’, whereby, what we do today will determine our future. Bhagwan Shri Ram said that we should use the blessed body for ‘sadhana’, which means ‘righteous deeds’.
We should maintain ‘dharma’ and not discriminate against each other: “Sarva dharma shambhava.” We should be truthful always: “Satyameva jayante.” The truth always prevails.
Always remember we should not forget our spiritual practices. Simply offering a leaf to Bhagwan is a spiritual practice. Bhagwan Krishna, an avatar of Vishnu, said in Chapter 9, verse 26, ‘Bhagavad Gita’: “Patram pushpam phalam toyam yo me bhaktya prayaachati, tad aham bhakty-upahrtam asnami praayaatatmana” – “Whosoever offers water, flowers, a fruit or a leaf with love it is worthy of My acceptance.” So Bhagwan accepts anything once it is offered with Love.
Maintaining all this we are now qualified for ‘moksha’, ‘nirvana’ or ‘mukti’. We will then be freed from the cycle of births and deaths. Always remember not to be tied down to the ‘maya’ of this world. We come in this world with nothing and will return with nothing, only our deeds. According to Pandit Balram Persad, it is better to be a servant in heaven than a king in hell (naraka).
